Why Trump. Fuels My Anxiety

It's not the policies, it's the poison. Forget debate—this is a deliberate, vicious assault on common decency. The name-calling, the schoolyard taunts, the sneering contempt for anyone who dares disagree. Who could ever forget him mocking a disabled reporter? It wasn't a mistake; it was a grotesque act of cruelty, a public display of contempt for the weak. This isn't just rude; it's a calculated dismantling of the very courtesies that hold society together.
As a history major, I've seen this before, and it always ends in disaster. "America First" isn't a policy; it's a declaration of war on global cooperation. He's tearing up international agreements, trashing our oldest alliances, and cozying up to dictators. This isn't strength; it's a dangerous, idiotic isolationism that leaves the whole world, and especially Canada, exposed and vulnerable. It's a betrayal of the post-WWII order that kept the peace for decades, all for the sake of his pathetic ego.
Horrified is an understatement. He's openly attacking the very foundations of democracy. The elections, the courts, the press—he brands them all "corrupt" and "biased" because they don't bow to him. This isn't a difference of opinion; it's a full-frontal assault on the rule of law. It's a page ripped right out of a dictator's playbook, and it's happening in a country next door.
And what about the constant, shameless grifting? He's not running a country; he's running a scam. The presidency isn't a public office to him—it's a marketing tool. He's using it to line his own pockets, promoting his resorts and businesses at every turn. It's a transparent, disgusting breach of public trust that shows he cares about nothing but his own grotesque self-enrichment.
Finally, the social and cultural destruction is unforgivable. He's an arsonist, gleefully tossing gasoline on every division he can find—race, gender, religion. The way he speaks about immigrants isn't just "divisive"; it's a deliberate campaign of dehumanization, treating people as if they're less than human. A person's worth is not defined by their origin, but he'd have you believe otherwise. This isn't leadership; it's a hateful performance that makes the world a more dangerous, uglier place.
When I turn off the television, it's not a moment of quiet reflection. It's an act of disgust. My opposition isn't a mere disagreement; it's a burning, visceral reaction to a man who embodies everything I despise: dishonesty, cruelty, greed, and a total disregard for the very values that hold a democratic society together.
